                         O God of love and justice, who sent Jesus among us to live, love, work and die; draw near to us to hear our confession and forgive our sin.  When we take for granted Christ’s sacrifice on the cross have mercy upon us.  When our faith is convenient and comfortable, when our faith leads not to commitment, but hides in complacency; surround us with your grace, that we might repent. When we practice obedience without cost to our comfort, remind us of the pain and discomfort of others.  This we pray in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ; he who died for us and who intercedes for us.  (Time for silent personal prayers of confession.)  Amen.
